HOT HOT HOT AND REALLY TASTY: RACLEE TURNS RACLETTE INTO AN EVENT AND DELIVERS THE EXPERIENCE TO YOUR HOME

HOT HOT HOT AND REALLY TASTY: RACLEE TURNS RACLETTE INTO AN EVENT AND DELIVERS THE EXPERIENCE TO YOUR HOME

I’d say the season for it runs from October to March, but to be honest, you can tempt me with some even in the height of summer – we’re talking about raclette. The cheese of all cheeses – for me at least. Now, as the year draws to a close and winter begins, it’s peak time for melted cheese and Raclée has got it covered. More specifically – Amélie (a British cheesemonger) and Florence (a French cheesemaker) do. They also have the matching Chäsbrätel and the machines that turn the firm, round organic cheese from Appenzell in Switzerland into liquid gold. The whole thing is served here in Berlin on smoked potatoes from Big Stuff BBQ. Choose whether you want to go with Local Flavors (Spreewald gherkin), Trendy Topping (fermented veggies) or Meaty (with Italian coppa). Preferably one after the other. You have a few days to do this, because the Raclée ladies are popping up at the Vagabund Brewery (08.-10.12.2023). You can combine your cheese tasting with some gift shopping and repeat the same experience a weekend later at the other end of the city at Arena. Want to share the authentic German raclette experience with a friend at your kitchen table? You can and it’s super simple: this year, the Raclée team is also offering their raclette machines for hire to use at home – plus half a wheel of cheese.

Not to mention the obligatory pickles and a personal intro on how to use the machine, because we’re not talking about a run-of-the-mill table grill here. So if you want to take your raclette game to the next level, here you go. All that’s missing are some other cheese-loving friends and the decision of what to put under, over or between your raclette bliss. I’ll just say kimchi, but this is where you can quickly devolve into the pizza Hawaii-style discussions – there’s definitely something to talk about. But we can al: Variety on the raclette grill is a must. With this in mind: to melt or not to melt is the question – in any case, savor the winter days until the Cheezy New Year.
