KLEISTONE STUDIO — TRY YOUR HAND AT POTTERY AND BROWSE AND BUY CERAMIC CREATIONS

There are few things more mesmerizing than observing organic form. Aside from lying in the park watching the sun lining the back of trees as their branches sway harmoniously in the wind, I often find myself getting lost in another sensory experience: pottery videos. Viewing them makes me think how satisfying it would be to feel the clay on my fingertips as I mold it into a shape of my choosing. Kleistone Studio, which opened in November 2021, is a women-led community ceramic studio where these daydreams can come to fruition. The tranquil and chic space in Kreuzberg is led by Kate Smallshaw and Elisabetta Lombardo, who use hand building techniques to make the small-batch ceramics they sell under their respective labels Pinch & Coil and Mesh & Cloth.

The studio helps you cultivate your ceramic skills to make useful objects, from pretty vases for summer flowers to attractive dinner plates and breakfast sets to impress your brunch pals. Afterwards, you can learn to glaze and fire your creations on-site. To celebrate six months since opening, the team is hosting a ceramic market this Saturday (14.05.2022). Members will be selling their work, and you will also be able to buy your own tools and clay to try your hand at the art form. There are few activities more fulfilling than stimulating your senses and learning new skills while making your own ceramic works of art. And let’s be honest: breakfast tastes better when it’s in a pretty bowl.
