ART, MUSIC, BOOKS AND MORE — SUMMER OF CULTURE CONTINUES WITH LIBRARY DAY, RADIO FESTIVAL AND GARDEN WALKS

ART, MUSIC, BOOKS AND MORE — SUMMER OF CULTURE CONTINUES WITH LIBRARY DAY, RADIO FESTIVAL AND GARDEN WALKS

This weekend is going to be a multi-sensory affair thanks to Kultursommerfestival, the seasonal celebration of the arts in Berlin. Friday is all about sound with the 13th Hörspielfestival, audio walks at the Akademie der Künste and Ascensions.01 – 360°, a program of interactive radio plays and light and sound installations at the Church of the Genezareth in Schillerkiez. Events continue with concerts, readings, workshops and markets as part of “Das hat mir gerade noch gefehlt” (“Just what I was looking for”). It takes place on Berlin Library Day (03.09.2022), when public libraries will be hosting a variety of activities for the whole family: book jumbles, workshops, courtyard festivals, poetry slams on the bicycle stage in Pankow, shadow theater in Köpenick, children’s concerts, drawing with comic artist Mawil, tape art in Tempelhof and music from Nuno and the End and Hummana on stage outside the Mark Twain library in Marzahn.

End the weekend on Sunday with a walk in the five “hidden” gardens of the Kulturforum at Tiergarten. Spots to check out include the Reading Garden at the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin, the inner gardens of the Kunstgewerbemuseum and Matthäikirchplatz in front of St. Matthew’s Church, the “Sculpture Garden” at the Neue Nationalgalerie, and the Philharmonic Garden from the State Institute for Music Research and the Philharmonic. Here you can unwind to a music program until 22h. Your ears – and mind – will thank you.
