The hype around the Berlin Marathon is undeniably huge — and rightfully so. This Sunday thousands of runners will be taking over Berlin on the 40km jaunt through the streets. But whether you’re running or cheering, everyone can join in on the festivities. We recommend diving into the culture of running by stopping into the Beinghunted gallery space for an exhibition and presentation from French brand Distance Athletics. The pop-up, from 27–29.09, centers on the newly launched Distance Book Series, where for the first edition the photographer Thibaut Grevet traveled into the highlands of Kenya to photograph the legendary village of Iten, named “The Home of Champions”. Extra tip: If you still need to gear up for the run, head over to Spreeläuferin Prenzlauer berg. This Berlin concept store is run by marathoners themselves, so you can be sure they have the expertise to fit you with the perfect gear. No matter if you’re an athlete or simply interested in the culture behind it all, this weekend is one not to miss. ITEN, the first volume of the Distance book series with photography from Thibaut Grevet, is available at the Distance shops in Lyon and Paris or online.
