ARTISTS IN DIALOGUE: JORINDE VOIGT & MARCELA ARMAS AT FLEX

In the picturesque Sophie-Gips-Höfe, just below the Sammlung Hoffmann, a new project space has opened its doors. Flex is dedicated to exploring the creative exchanges between generations and cultures, in the past and present. Tonight Marcela Armas’ installations enter into dialogue with drawings of Jorinde Voigt. Armas, who was born in Mexico, interprets the relations of her homeland to America by translating borders into glowing metal filaments. Voigt converts Niklas Luhmann’s sociological text “Liebe als Passion” (“love as passion”) into delicate strokes on paper. Flex connects these two artists through their differences; Armas presents her work through physical and political realities, while Voigt’s work explores the magical. (Text: Laura Storfner)
