In the heart of Wedding, an urban community garden has taken root. ‘Himmelbeet’ is an intercultural neighborhood enterprise where the partitioned lots hold regional and organic fruits, vegetables and herbs. While the farming plots are all accounted for in 2014, the public is invited to chip-in with watering, weeding, and plant tending. A new garden café is planned to open at the end of June, so you can enjoy a cup of tea and cake as you watch the garden grow. And using the natural backdrop of lush greenery, tango nights with instructors will also take place weekly. Local produce is available for purchase such as this week’s herb selection of chive, oregano, hyssop and sorrel. (Text: Lorena Simmel / photo bottom right: David Steinberg)
