I’ve highlighted next Monday on my agenda, since there is an event not-to-be-missed: the performance by Lower Dens. The Baltimore quartet with Jana Hunter stop over in Berlin to play at the club West Germany. It’s a bit sad that this fantastic band will be on stage at such a small venue but it’s actually a treat for us. I’m sure the next time they play it will be at a bigger location. Plus the run-down and morbid atmosphere of the club suits their melancholic and lugubrious sound often tagged in categories such as Drone Pop, Shoegaze and Krautrock. Their new album titled “Nootropics”, a term describing the positive effect of substances on the nervous system, was released at the end of April. The music by Lower Dens is certainly a nootropic too, without any harmful side effects. Listen to and watch “Propagations” here, a track from their new release.
