The constant whirl of city life can be overwhelming, and sometimes the need for escape is undeniable. With their new “Hideout” suites, family-run Michelberger Hotel seem to have taken the dream of a much-loved childhood den and made it a grown-up reality. As with pre-existing rooms, such as the split level space of “The Loft” and book-lined walls of “The Clever”, the Hideout suites reinforce Michelberger’s commitment to innovative architectural design. Created by Sigurd Larsen, a renowned Berlin-based architect responsible for furnishing the Voo store café amongst other projects, the suites play with space and simplicity: warm wooden panels slide open to reveal low, wide beds or sunken white bathtubs, and hidden doors cover the fully-equipped kitchen. Touches of luxury, such as the sleek steps of the sauna, the enormous space of the rain shower, or the independently crafted Wiener Wunderkind speakers, work to prevent the suites from feeling too rustic. Whilst the rooms are built for two, the extra bed can accommodate up to two children, and there’s no doubt that both younger and older guests alike will delight in the sense of magic that the Hideout suites create.
