NICOLAI LAGONI RECOMMENDS: ALLAN’S BREAKFAST CLUB

NICOLAI LAGONI RECOMMENDS: ALLAN’S BREAKFAST CLUB

Anyone who has ever enjoyed an Australian breakfast knows that you always want to come back for more. Ever since November 2015, Allan’s Breakfast Club and Wine Bar, or ABC for short, has become the new spot for Aussie cuisine in the Kollwitzplatz neighborhood. The interior looks like an Australian beach café, serving classic sandwiches like avocado with salmon, or a BLT (bacon, lettuce and tomato), alongside dishes such as eggs Benedict and warm banana bread. Allan Bourbon, the owner, is a native Frenchman who spent 16 years living in Sydney, and it’s the merging of these two cultures which results in the fantastic decision to pair Australian breakfasts with French wines. Two large refrigerators are fitted with enormous carafes of wine, which are imported directly from France. You can help yourself, but Allan and his co-worker Philippe will always be on hand to help you choose wisely, with enthusiasm and a wealth of experience. This place is a great addition to the brunch scene in Prenzlauer Berg, and I can’t wait to enjoy the spring sun on the large terrace! (Text: Nicolai Lagoni / Photo: Daniel Farò)
