NORWAY NEXT TO NORDBAHNHOF: OSLO KAFFEBAR

As you exit the Nordbahnhof train station, you will spot the bright neon sign pointing in the direction of a safe harbour for coffee aficionados. It was in Oslo that Norwegian-born Kristian Moldskred discovered his passion for coffee as well as the name for his current project. Moldskred moved to Berlin over three years ago and started a small espresso bar Kristiania in Prenzlauer Berg. Meanwhile he’s started a new venture in Mitte together with Benjamin Mosse who was his former patron. Instead of ordering latte macchiato or cappuccino, here you choose your cup according to the ratio of milk to coffee. The American “to go” style is not really rooted in Norwegian cafes, since drinking coffee is more of a daily ritual there, not to be done in haste. Surrounded by Scandinavian designs, self-built tables and a small selection of vinyl records, this place offers the perfect opportunity to participate in the ceremony. For all others, rest assured, they do have paper cups. (Text: Laura Storfner / Photos Sven Hausherr)
