PERSONAL TALES — THE BIOGRAPHY BOOK SHOP

PERSONAL TALES — THE BIOGRAPHY BOOK SHOP

Richardstrasse is one of the nicest streets in Berlin with its old buildings and the Comenius garden (see first article) and it’s also home to a lovely little book store: Die Biografische Bibliothek. Seven years back, Katinka Krause came up with the idea of a shop dedicated to biographies, memoires and diaries, because she herself enjoys reading personal stories. Her private collection marked the starting point. The entire store, with shelves made from old wine cases, is packed with vintage and second hand books. If you can’t find what you’re looking for or the book is out of print, Krause can help you hunt for it. So this book store takes it personal – in terms of selection and service! Additionally, every last Friday of the month they have a lecture free of charge. This Friday (26.10.2012) the event will be on Orlando Mardones’ story during his Pinochet era in Chile.
