If you want the lowdown on the startup scene here in Germany, Berlin-based podcast Startup Insider has it all: interviews with the founders of local start-ups like Ecosia, discussions on women in tech, reading recommendations and lessons from the corona crisis. Finally, you can’t think about technology without considering its impact on society. Enter Rabbit Hole, the hit podcast hosted by New York Times tech columnist Kevin Roose which does just that. Over a series of eight 30-minute vignettes, the show offers an eye-opening analysis of the tech world’s human impact, hearing from everyone from YouTube celebrities to QAnon converts. Dealing with similar subject matter in a very different way is Chaosradio, the monthly tech podcast from renowned hacker group Chaos Computer Club. The show is something of a legend, having been broadcast online and on Radio Fritz since 1995. Each two-hour episode sees host Marcus Richter take a tech topic of societal relevance – whether encrypted messaging services, Covid tracing apps or online conspiracies – and invites expert guests for discussions which, though technical, are still engaging and understandable.
