FROM ORGANIC CERAMICS TO CONTEMPORARY JEWELRY: DISCOVER AND TAKE HOME AT “RADICAL CRAFT”

FROM ORGANIC CERAMICS TO CONTEMPORARY JEWELRY: DISCOVER AND TAKE HOME AT “RADICAL CRAFT”

In order to remain competitive on the market today, products are required to become increasingly cheap and readily available – a cutthroat trend for young businesses and new ideas. The annual “Radical Craft” exhibition at Direktorenhaus proves that it is possible to do things differently: 73 designers and artisans demonstrate just how multifaceted and magnificent art and design can be. Each one of the objects on display feels radical and timeless in its choice of materials and manufacturing processes. Whether it’s the colorful paper creations from Papierwerk Glockenbach, the textile and metal lace jewelry designs by Stefanie Mittmann or the purist organic ceramic works by Anna Badur – the show centers around the concept of craftsmanship and presents products as desirable objects that outlive any trend. Admission is free and you can also buy all the exhibited works right there on the spot. (Text: Hanna Komornitzyk / Photos: Hannes Wiedemann, Stefan Passig & Paul Graves)
