I’ve had my eyes on the Berlin-based furniture design studio Nutsandwoods ever since their conception by founder Philipp Roessler in 2013. Their simple, bold yet elegant pieces are meticulously crafted with attention to detail using some of my favorite natural materials: oak, metal and marble. I am delighted to see that their collection has grown from their iconic and timeless side tables and benches to a broader collection of furniture and accessories over the years. Recently they’ve launched a new line of geometry-inspired oak chairs, a natural linen sofa that makes you feel like you’re on cloud nine, and two handsome lamps using materials such as concrete, brass and authentic walnut veneers, all handcrafted in Berlin and right up my alley! A concept apartment furnished with their products is also launching in a true home-like space in addition to their beautiful showroom on Ackerstrasse that opened its doors in 2017, both located in Mitte. You can also spot their designs during your next visit to Hallesches Haus. Looks like I will be laying eyes on them for some time to come. (Text: Rei Matsuoka / Photos: Nutsandwoods & Tim Labenda)
