SABINE MENZEL RECOMMENDS: WIEN LUKATSCH

SABINE MENZEL RECOMMENDS: WIEN LUKATSCH

For nearly 25 years Barbara Wien has run her art and artists’ bookshop with exhibition space in different Berlin locations – since September 2011 in a 400 square meter “Gründerzeit” flat in close proximity to the Kulturforum (an area which has become increasingly popular with galleries in the last few years). Three of the vast, white rooms are used as gallery and provide ample space for art works. The bookshop offers art and artists’ books since the 1960s as well as selected catalogues and texts. Asked if she doesn’t miss the traffic of a more exposed location Wien explains that the current location offers visitors a quiet and meditative space where they can study art and books – something her customers truly appreciate. Following a tradition of interdisciplinary approach and blending different media, Wien and her business partner Wilma Lukatsch are planning a series of exhibitions focussing on the topic “Artists Who Write”, for their 25th anniversary in 2013. You will be able to find more information about the upcoming events on their website.
