Natural, sustainable, vegan, organic. These are words on any conscious beauty buyer’s lips, as demand for medicinal plants and natural ingredients keeps growing. Many opt for traditional herbal medicine for holistic well-being and beauty, both inside and out. It’s a philosophy shared by pharmacist Sabine Oeverhaus-Zeeck, who opened natural cosmetics shop Saint Charles Complements in Wilmersdorf in autumn 2019. It’s an offshoot of her Saint Charles pharmacy, located in the shop next door. Inside is a place dedicated to nourishing natural cosmetics for use both at home and in the day spa located behind the shop. With oak parquet flooring and essential oils filling the air, this is a mecca for sustainable, natural care. In addition to own brand Saint Charles (founded in 1886 in Vienna) you’ll find high-end care products by Pharmos Natur from Bavaria, The Organic Pharmacy from London, natural hair care from Innersense Organic Beauty, vegan nail polish from Nailberry, Malin+Goetz from New York and local organic cosmetics from Berlin’s Und Gretel.
There are also tea blends, scented candles, jewelry, handmade cosmetic bags from Offenbach leather manufacturer F. Hammann and aromatic essences at the scent bar. The holistic approach extends to the bottles: Saint Charles’ own-brand packaging is made of glass or recycled materials. If you are looking to tick some items off the gift list – and treat yourself while you’re at it – this is the place to head for.
