Nada Lottermann and Vanessa Fuentes, two school friends who make up the photography duo Lottermann & Fuentes, sent out a ping pong match challenge. Their game is the kind that involves no use of rackets or balls, however, instead it requires cameras. They sent out selected works from their own portfolio to friends, acquaintances and strangers with the request for a photographic reply. Artists such as Maxime Ballesteros, Albrecht Fuchs and Juergen Teller shot back; sending own archival work or a new image. The result is a visual dialogue that can sometimes be taken literally and sometimes metaphorically. On Monday, the viewer may decipher the stories between each pair of images at Kirsten Hermanns’ Galerie für Moderne Fotografie – between each ping and every pong.
