SCHOEMIG PORZELLAN: SIMPLE PLEASURES FOR THE KITCHENTOP

SCHOEMIG PORZELLAN: SIMPLE PLEASURES FOR THE KITCHENTOP

Tone down your next tea party with ceramics from this petite shop and studio in Helmholtzkiez. These plain white teacups – perhaps with the addition of a pencil-thin gray line – will make an essentialist’s heart swoon. Owner Claudia Schoemig perfected her precarious art for many years before opening a store in 2011. In a whitewashed space flooded with winter sun, her porcelain proves endurance. Untouched by formality, the pieces come to life all on their own. Long, thin shelves are lined with handle-less cups in various sizes. Find also translucent plates and bowls with a paper-like quality, and an array of vases dipped in pastels waiting to be filled. Contrary to their fragile nature, these skinny saucers are made for everyday use. At Cee Cee, we treated ourselves to a bespoke collection, to make winter mornings a little easier.
