“Everything on the table in front of you is alive,” says Edible Alchemy founder Alexis Goertz, gesturing to a table of homemade sourdough, miso butter and a few other curious-looking jars. “But don’t let that scare you!” Offering the chance to test all of the fermented goods before participating in an in-depth sourdough lesson, Edible Alchemy is just one of the exciting, unique workshops offered through The Makery. Co-founded by Jasper Kolb and Maija Kassari in 2017, The Makery is a platform for those who love to make and learn. With the aim of connecting creative makers from across Berlin to unconventional activity seekers, The Makery now offers classes in every corner of the city, teaching anything from cyanotype creation in Neukölln to Chinese tea ceremonies in Prenzlauer Berg.
