In 2017, Berlin restaurants Nobelhart & Schmutzig and Horváth founded the initiative Die Gemeinschaft. With a seemingly simple goal: not only to rethink the relationship between food producers, restaurateurs and end consumers, but to rebuild it. Die Gemeinschaft wants to promote dialogue between ourselves and gastronomy through networking, education and exchange, in order to create a new food culture together and in dialogue. On September 11 and 12, 2023, the annual symposium will take place, bringing together all culinary stakeholders in the country for a better food system. On the first day, Gut Boltenhof near Fürstenberg in Brandenburg invites you to a personal and festive exchange. There will be discussions, round tables and workshops on relevant topics such as new ways of working or how to appreciate animal processing. The evening will conclude with “From Earth & Team” Head Chef Jan serving a three-course menu, which is limited to 80 people and can be booked as an add-on. Billy Wagner will provide the wine accompaniment with tasting bottles from his wine cellar.
The second day takes place in Berlin. Every hour there will be exciting ideas, places and people presenting their unique work: from the production of bee-friendly pressed honey, sourdough pasta, agroforestry tour in the Wilmars Gärten to cheese tasting. We find Die Gemeinschaft to be as ambitious as it is important in today’s world, where food is not universally appreciated and understanding of production processes is largely lacking. Networking, education and exchange are the tools. And at the end of the day, we all want to eat good food from quality sources in good company – and community, don’t we?
