FROM BEIJING TO BERLIN — THE I: PROJECT SPACE LANDS AT LORIS

Just three years ago, Antonie Angerer and Anna-Viktoria Eschbach opened an art space in Beijing. Their “I: Project Space” in Banqiao Hutong, the city’s historical quarter, soon became more than just an exhibition space for emerging artists. Today, the duo invite organise artist residences, lead a publishing house and manage festivals for Beijing’s independent galleries. Now it’s their turn to be hosted for a month in Berlin, where their group exhibition, “Its blueness soothes the sharp burn in your eyes” opens tomorrow (7.4.17) at Loris. Stop by to see Martin Kohout’s exploration of corporate brand aesthetics, Wu Ding’s installations that seek a higher order, and Anahita Razmi’s reinterpretation of her Iranian roots. Each artist is connected by their attitude to the world, which is no longer defined by territorial boundaries but instead by digital links: Their works live out utopian techno fantasies, manipulate reality and create their own alternative facts. (Text: Laura Storfner / Photos: (clockwise) Anahita Razmi, Wu Ding, Martin Kohout)
