WIENER BROT — SARAH WIENER’S WOOD-FIRED BREAD

WIENER BROT — SARAH WIENER’S WOOD-FIRED BREAD

When I first moved to Berlin, I was disappointed by the quality of bread sold in the city. All I saw were the so called “backstuben”, large bakery chains, where they have frozen bakery products delivered and heated up at the shop. Needless to say, I’m really pleased to see more and more small local bakeries, priding themselves in making the best bread in town, popping up all over. Wiener Brot (by Sarah Wiener) that opened up a few weeks ago on Tucholskystrasse is the perfect example of how simple and good a bakery can be. Their bread is fresh, organic and home made, baked in a wood-fired stone oven in Neukölln. Leaving the little shop, I can’t help but look forward to my breakfast.
