It used to be one of my favorite stores in the Graefekiez: the Süper Store. Then the store went online, but the concept remained – the Süper Store as a space for handpicked, high-quality products that beautify, simplify, and delight our daily lives. Behind the concept was and still is Elisabeth Schotte, a trained fashion designer and – in addition to her work as curator of her online store – a jewelry designer herself for several years. Now the designer is venturing back into the real world: still in Kreuzberg but this time located at Moritzplatz and Aufbau Haus, her S+ gallery opens this Thursday (22.06.2023). In focus: her oeuvre. Or rather her latest creation, the 12-piece jewelry collection “Intaglio”, which focuses on ancient figures such as cherubs, nymphs, and mythological animals. The pieces are manufactured in Berlin and Munich. In addition, in true Süper fashion, there are other things: glass works by the designer Laurence Brabant and porcelain by the Japanese designers Oji Masanori and Rina Ono. So whether it’s objects on your hands or in your hands – S+ is not just about adding physical space to the Süper online store, it extends the concept towards a dialogue between things – and in the future, other designers and artists from around the world. Now that’s a plus.
