ALPAKAS — ONLINE SUPERMARKET DELIVERING ORGANIC PACKAGING-FREE GROCERIES AND MORE TO YOUR DOOR

We all know how beneficial packaging-free grocery shopping is for the environment. But is there a way to shop sustainably without needing to carry all those jars and pots to the store? Eco grocery service Alpakas offers an online alternative that is super convenient. The website sells hundreds of grocery items packaged in reusable glass containers for same-day delivery in Berlin. It works like any other online supermarket: you select from the range of over 700 goods – including bulk-buy classics like pasta, grains and seeds but also bread, butter, fruit and veg – pick a time slot, and your goods will be delivered to your door by e-cargobike, without a plastic bag in sight.

The startup was launched in 2021 by founder trio Tomy Eitner, Antony Roczek and Simon Chorzelski, whose goal was to make online groceries fair and sustainable. We were pleased to see that the mainly organic selection includes local products like pickles and jams from Roots Radicals and sauces from Mimi Ferments. The range is large enough that you can do your weekly shop on the site, saving you time and effort. As for the reusable part: once you’ve finished with the glassware, just return it to your delivery driver when they next visit (Alpakas says it reuses containers up to 40 times). Banishing plastics and filling our pantry with sleek glass jars has never been simpler.
