NEW VENICE: THE KÖPERNICK SUMMER SPOT FOR SIGHTSEEING, NATURE AND CANOEING

NEW VENICE: THE KÖPERNICK SUMMER SPOT FOR SIGHTSEEING, NATURE AND CANOEING

Venice is far away – indeed at the moment it’s unreachable. New Venice, on the other hand, is just around the corner. Officially, the area is part of Köpenick, but strolling along the branched waterways and narrow bridges in this enchanted oasis, you get a real holiday feeling. A bit like Venice, you might say – just without the crowds and the noise. Start your stroll by turning left from Fürstenwalder Allee onto the small Rialtoring path, from which several canal-lined side paths run. A nice stopover is the Rialto bridge, which, though less imposing than the Venetian original, offers an idyllic view towards the Müggelspree. On the way back, the New Venice beer garden and restaurant is worth a stop, with apple strudel and waterside views for vacation vibes. For those who prefer some activity on their holidays, you can also rent canoes and paddle boats at various rental stations (e.g. 13kanus) around the area so you can explore the numerous canals from the water.
