Nowadays most of us prefer to buy a new item rather than having the old one repaired, since it’s actually cheaper that way. The same can be said for clothes – but your favorite sweater or the pricy knitted pieces the moths have nibbled on might be worth repairing. When I send my damaged knits to Düren, Mr. Leguiller’s team cast the magic stitches on them and they come back perfect – “Die Kunststopferei” is a second-generation family-run enterprise. Prices depend on the piece’s quality, knitting style, and the size of the hole, but you can pre-check by calling or sending an inquiry by email in advance.

THEOPHILUS LONDON FOR THE FIRST TIME IN BERLIN

Fashion week and musical highlights often come hand in hand. Tonight, for example, Theophilus London will be performing at the WAD Magazine/Lee party at Picknick. Although he hasn‘t released any albums yet, there’s been so much hype about this Brooklyn rapper that this will probably be your last chance to see him live in such a small venue. The first album will be released on July 16th; check out his first single’s video here.

CLUB FOR THE BROKEN HEARTED

If you feel like party hopping, tonight is the night. So start the night on the right foot by first going to The Broken Hearts Club. Go there early, meaning before 11, if you don’t enjoy standing in line forever. Unfortunately they don’t play exclusively love songs anymore, which I thought was great… but you can still feel the old spirit nonetheless by being at its legendary location Ballhaus-Berlin, where on a normal night folks gather for traditional social dancing and only once in a while does it get taken over by the Berlin party crowd.

VISION & FASHION EXHIBITION

For those who’ve never heard of “Sammlung Modebild Lipperheidische Kostümbibliothek“: the institution is a part of Berlins art library located at Kulturforum. Curated by Dr. Rasche (head of the costume library), “Visions & Fashion – fashion Images 1980 – 2010” is currently on exhibition. You’ll discover works by younger artists such as Martin Mago as well as re-discover “old” names such as Rico Puhlmann. Highly recommended!
