Wine from a can: more grape juice than grand cru, right? Not so! After tasting the Tpsy tinned wine on a balmy spring evening my reservations were immediately gone. Behind this practically-packaged drink are Nicolas Dierking-Mihm and Philipp, two friends and wine enthusiasts from Berlin who got together in 2020 to develop a light and appealing alternative to bulky bottled wine. The cool and poppy cans are light and handy, making them ideal for an evening stroll with friends. But that doesn’t mean the quality suffers – on the contrary: you can choose between a sparkling Riesling and a fine Pinot Noir rosé from the Rheingau region for crisp, quaffable drinking, while for something a little lighter the wine spritzer offers a lower alcohol tipple. Contrary to the common belief that aluminium cans are worse for the environment, the Tpsy tins are easily recyclable and lightweight, saving on transport emissions. And there’s more: when you buy four cans – which are available in mixed or single-sort boxes – a tree will be planted from the proceeds by Eden Reforestation Projects, which has already planted 3880 trees in developing countries.
