MINT&BERRY FLOWER MARKET — FILL YOUR DAY WITH BLOSSOMS

MINT&BERRY FLOWER MARKET — FILL YOUR DAY WITH BLOSSOMS

If you are looking to add a splash of color to your home, you should stop by the Mint&Berry Flower Market held at Heeresbäckerei this Sunday (17.4.2016). The best florists in town will come together to celebrate the coming of spring: Marsano, our favorite address for bouquets in Mitte, Blattgold in Neukölln, Poems & Posies, famous for their romantic dried flowers, and Horeis in Prenzlauer Berg. The blooms and plants that you purchase can be arranged for you right away or placed into braided macramé plant hangers during a workshop run by California Dreaming. There will also be workshops held by the magical flower artist Ruby Barber, the talent behind Mary Lennox, featured at The Store in Soho House. If you’re interested, sign up and find out more . To make sure you stay energised throughout the day, Laura from Tausendsuend, along with others, will be offering her beautifully crafted flower cakes and tasty snacks. A great live soundtrack, floral eye candy and sweet treats are waiting for you this weekend. (Text: Stephanie Johne)

CEE CEE LESSONS WITH BULLEIT — LESSON 3: WOOD

CEE CEE LESSONS WITH BULLEIT — LESSON 3: WOOD

Towards the end of 2015 we launched our Cee workshop series, the Cee Cee Lessons, with the intention of presenting product designers, entrepreneurs and experts within our community, bringing people together in order to learn from them. After the first two exciting installations, focusing on concrete and tea, the next event will now be dedicated to one of the most basic and natural of all materials — wood. We have teamed up with designer Rainer Spehl, a talented Berlin-based artist who has been working here since 2003. At his studio in Brunnenstrasse he creates furniture and other wooden objects, including his most famous piece: the wooden laptop case (of course). He is the perfect choice to introduce this topic to us, and like before, the lesson will connect creative energies and allow us all to learn from each other. In our “Wood” workshop this Saturday (9.4.2016) we will – together with our partner Bulleit – whittle and carve until our hands are aching, in order to take home our own unique pieces at the end of the day. Stay tuned for pictures! (Text: Massimo Hartmann / Photo: Daniel Farò)

CEE CEE LESSONS WITH BULLEIT — LESSON 2: MANUTEEFAKTUR

CEE CEE LESSONS WITH BULLEIT — LESSON 2: MANUTEEFAKTUR

In our first Cee Cee Lesson with Bulleit, we poured concrete; for our second workshop we will be pouring tea. This Sunday (21.2.2016), we will visit Manu Kumar at his tea manufacturers, located in a Kreuzberg backyard. We have previously written about the Manuteefaktur in both our book and newsletter, and are huge fans of his work. Together with Manu, the workshop will involve creating your own fermented Kombucha, and brewing a personal and unique blend of chai tea. Manu will be at your disposal throughout the day to give individual advice, information and explanations as to why and how different ingredients work together for creating a truly beautiful tea. Finally, finish off the day with a slightly stronger type of tea; a Bulleit infused punch, made exactly how you like it. Updates and pictures from the Cee Cee Lesson will be available online, on Instagram and of course in the newsletter. (Text: Michaela Wölfel / Photo: Daniel Farò)

We are giving away two tickets for the lesson! Email win@ceecee.cc today (18.2.2016) by 23h for a chance to win.

WOCHE DER KRITIK: REANIMATING CRITICAL DISCUSSION OF CINEMA

WOCHE DER KRITIK: REANIMATING CRITICAL DISCUSSION OF CINEMA

As the city’s cinemas begin to fill with eager Berlinale visitors, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of films on offer. The Woche der Kritik is an answer to this: a concurrent week of screenings and debates which looks to promote public discussion of cinema. Created to help explore alternative international perspectives on film, the week is neatly organised into themed viewings; every evening, under headlines like Zeitgeist or Seduction, film screenings will be followed by a talk, lecture or discussion. Our pick? Power. Taking place on Saturday (13.2.2016) the evening will start with a screening of “Coma”, a film depicting everyday life in Damascus via the interaction between three generations of Syrian women, allowing the intimacy of a family to reflect the disintegration of a city through a different lens. Following this, the talk will focus on potential connections and responsibilities surrounding political violence and film. Check out their program online, and be a part of the conversation during this year’s Berlinale. (Text: Antonia Harris / Photo: (bottom) Lewis Klahr)
