When I was invited to peek behind the scenes of Fabrik 23 in January 2019, my heart beat faster – it’s a 100 year old factory hidden in the heart of Wedding. Wandering from room to room, there is so much to discover: meticulously restored workbenches that serve as cooking stations, hand-crafted tables made from old Berlin floorboards, antique church benches and bar tables made from converted gymnastic bars – even a green winter garden with centuries-old terracotta tiles and a fireplace. I could have stayed here forever! It’s not just the beautiful interior that impresses, but also the culinary genius of catering chef Guido Vinci. We were served cremant, fresh oysters on ice and homemade truffle pasta, all at a long table with a DJ in the background. Until now, you could only rent this space for private events, but as of 10.08.2019 a regular Italian Fine Dining event will take place every two months, with changing themes around Italian culinary culture. It’s no doubt the best opportunity to explore this historic building. (Text: Noemi Dulischewski / Photos: Fabrik 23)
