BLOCK PARTY FOR FASHION FANS: ROTHOLZ SUMMER STUDIO SALE WITH DRINKS AND MUSIC IN POTSDAM

Time for a little getaway to Potsdam, where this Saturday you’ll find the Rotholz Studio Sale. This year it’s being styled as a “block party” with free beers from Brlo and Stiftung Hell, a falafel food truck, DJ sets and, of course, minimalist fair fashion pieces. You can get discounts on the current summer collection as well as the opportunity to grab last items and unreleased sample pieces at special prices. Since launching in 2008, the label has been all about conscious fashion and reduced Japanese-inspired design aesthetics that combine well with other items. The straight linen shirts, skirts, sweatshirts, jackets and caps are all made from climate-friendly materials and produced within the EU, with the organic merino wool knitwear produced in Germany. Winter isn’t a million miles away, so why not get that knitted sweater in preparation?

SUMMER DRESSES, VINTAGE VASES & NEW FRAGRANCES — THREE POP-UPS FOR THE WEEKEND

In case you haven’t noticed, we can’t get enough of pop-ups. Allow us to present three more, offering everything from Portuguese summer fashion and extravagant cups to Cypriot jewelry and personalized fragrances. First up is the Reality Studio pop-up, which opens today (21.07.2022) at the Wolfen store in Mitte. There you’ll find a summer collection featuring cooling linen that transports you to Portugal – the location, incidentally, of the label’s headquarters and production. Looking for smart glasses to serve up summer drinks? Then be sure to stop by the Still Life Design pop-up, where you will find vases and vintage glasses that are usually only available online. The pop-up runs today, Friday and Saturday in jewelry label Sister’s shop in Schillerkiez. In addition to design objects, there is also handmade jewelry from Cyprus to try and buy. Finally, it’s time to get fragrant with the likes of “The Dreamer”, “The Lover”, “The Thinker” and “The Traveler”. These perfumes will be available to test and buy next Wednesday (27.07.) at the Apotheke pop-up at Hallesches Haus. Here, Apotheke’s founder will be on hand to treat early bird shoppers to a small perfume and a glass of champagne on the house.

EYE-CATCHING METAL ACCESSORIES MADE IN NEUKÖLLN AND SCHÖNEBERG — HANS OBJECTS

Aesthetically, functionally designed objects with clear forms and rich colors. That’s what you’ll find at Hans Objects, the Berlin product and interior design studio founded in 2021 by Anna and her architect partner Hans Brüderl. Like most of us, the pair spent an unusually large amount of time at home during the pandemic, highlighting the importance of home decor. The products the duo were inspired to create are characterized by their boiled-down, no-frills design. The collection includes the “Carla” tray made from one piece of aluminum molded in a metal workshop in Neukölln and powder coated in Schöneberg. Then there’s the Walter” coat rack and the “Ruby” shelf, which are both made of steel and come in two sizes and three colors. Simple and universal, the three robust and waterproof pieces are versatile, as happy being placed in the kitchen or hallway as in the bathroom. Whether you want to put them to practical use or enjoy them for their aesthetics, the items’ haptics, intuitive look and balanced proportions make them a joy to have around.

TAPE ART, TABLE TENNIS AND TIMEPIECES AT TAUENTZIENSTRASSE: THE NEW SWATCH STORE ON KU’DAMM

If you want to unglue yourself from your smartphone (#screentimedetox) but still want to be on time, a good old wristwatch is always an option. Or actually how about a cutting-edge new wristwatch? Time to make a trip to Ku’damm where Swatch has opened a new shop featuring funky, poppy tape art from Tape That. Poppiness is exactly what the brand has been known and loved for since it was founded in 1983. At the time, combining Swiss precision with vibrant styles was novel, and it’s a concept that still works today. The Flik Flak model for children has become a classic amongst school kids. As for the grown-ups, the often witty and surprising styles make for good conversation starters. If the Frida Kahlo Swatch is a little funky for business meetings, the “Originals” collection offers normcore style par excellence and has long held cult status, while “Skin” models are a minimalist’s dream. Despite this heritage, the brand is very much in the 21st century: some models even offer contactless payments. But in some ways the traditional features are best: a watch that lets you keep an eye on the time for your bus to the lake (and which will accompany you when you jump in the water) and which lets you record meeting minutes accurately. If you want to try out the watches in real life, the shop is the ideal place to do so. It has an interior that is filled with tape art and neon. TikTokable? We think so.
