ESPRIT x OPENING CEREMONY SPRING/SUMMER 17 AT KADEWE

ESPRIT x OPENING CEREMONY SPRING/SUMMER 17 AT KADEWE

Nineties style meets subversive youth culture in the latest collaboration between Esprit and cult fashion empire Opening Ceremony. The resulting Spring / Summer 17 collection offers a fresh take on activewear classics. Pastel tones, florals and stripes dominate the range, infusing denim crop tops, high waisted shorts and unisex sweats with a nostalgic touch. It’s the accessories that take the cake, though: think bucket hats, flat-brimmed caps and fanny packs that elevate the laid-back staples. Fun, carefree and made to move in, the collection hints at what’s in store for summer. Thankfully you don’t have to wait for the weather to improve before getting your hands on this apparel: the collection launches globally today (27.4.17) and will be in available for purchase in Berlin at KaDeWe from tomorrow. Industry insiders will be able to get a sneak peek tonight at an exclusive pre-launch event from 20.30h. Email us for the chance to win two places on the guest list. ANDREAS MURKUDIS TAKES HIS ANALOG ATMOSPHERES ONLINE

ANDREAS MURKUDIS TAKES HIS ANALOG ATMOSPHERES ONLINE

In Andreas Murkudis’ vast, museum-like concept stores it’s character, integrity, and sophisticated design that link his hand-curated products – ranging from leather goods to minimalist ceramics, design-forward furniture to cosmetics. With a digital shop set to launch this fall, Murkudis and his team want to break up the fast-paced, trend-driven consumption promoted by online retail with a transference of the tranquil, spacious feelings oft garnered in Murkudis’ stores to an online retail shop. To celebrate their digital evolution, Murkudis is hosting an auction on his website, featuring a range of fashion and design items from his private collection. From April through August 2017, browse and bid on the personal, one-of-a-kind objects collected over the course of his career — from out-of-print fashion magazines to a unique pair of Raf Simons leather gloves, even impeccably kept archived invitations to top fashion shows from the likes of Hermès, Dior Homme, and Dolce & Gabbana. VERONIKA FORSYTHE RECOMMENDS: BLUME & RAUM

VERONIKA FORSYTHE RECOMMENDS: BLUME & RAUM

Walking towards this hidden gem, it might feel like you’re intruding on the front yard of an abandoned ground floor apartment. However after opening the small old metal gate, stepping over sporadically-placed plants, you’ll find yourself facing a few steps leading to sweet little door that appears far too small for any grown adult. Don’t let this deter you. Inside waits a calm and peaceful haven filled with a balanced collection of simple and exotic buckets of flowers, surrounded by homely arrangements and display tables presenting decorative treasures. If, like me, you never have enough beautiful plants and trinkets or you want to treat someone to an unique bouquet, then take a little detour from your next canal-side walk to let owner Jana Zschömitzsch help you find exactly what you’re looking for. GOURMET GARAGE — YOUR ONE-STOP LOCAL EPICUREAN SHOP

GOURMET GARAGE — YOUR ONE-STOP LOCAL EPICUREAN SHOP

Ready to take your dinner party hosting to the next level? Next time you need to stock up on ingredients, liquor cabinet refills or condiments for the finishing touch, head over to Gourmet Garage: a brand new delicatessen in Kollwitz Kiez with a personal touch. Freshly opened in early April 2017 by 30-year-old Philip Bachmüller, the deli brings together a hand-picked range of fine small-batch gourmet producers, around 70% of which Berlin-based. You’ll find classic local brands such as Crazy Bastard Sauce and Berliner Sommer alongside intriguing epicurean delights like truffle-infused tomato ketchup or Hemptastic: a THC-free lemonade made from cannabis leaves. The Garage’s name and its palette-filled interior concept hark back to the time Bachmüller spent in Brooklyn. Now that he’s back in town, he’s aiming to bring the deli concept down to earth, ensuring no product in store costs over €35. Yet another reason — or five — to keep buying local.
