It’s time to unlock the treasure chest – or, as it’s called in Ukrainian, the Skrynya. This particular box of jewels is actually a pop-up market which is welcoming Ukrainian fashion, decor and jewelry brands to the European Academy Berlin this weekend (16. & 17.07.2022). Held in the EAB’s lush gardens in Grunewald, the two-day gathering supported by Zalando is a chance to browse and buy the likes of party-ready dresses from T.Mosca, “wearable art” from Overall and poppy printed shirts from Rcr Khomenko. Besides fashion, you’ll also find ceramics and jewelry from Gunia Project and candles from Thirteen. You can get creative yourself too with Ukrainian-inspired workshops on wreath weaving, traditional petrykivka painting and upcycling. Also in the line-up is a talk with Spend with Ukraine, an organization that supports creative and tech industries in Ukraine by promoting their products around the world. This celebration of Ukrainian design excellence will be accompanied by DJs (Rina Katen, Sergio), and artworks from Anna Voda and Irina Bizot. If all the browsing and looking leaves you hungry, you can pick up a bite from Ukrainian-German restaurant Marone, drinks from Space Meduza Bar and cakes from Kharkiv-born baker Snezhana. Ten percent of proceeds from the event will be spent on medical aid to Ukraine – just another reason to seek out this treasure chest out west.
