The never-ending eighties hype (I don’t mind it) brings us sugar coated, dreamy, and slightly cheesy tunes floating from every corner of the blogosphere into our ears and eyes. If you are – just like me – drawn to this magical sound, you should try to get a ticket for the M83 concert in Berlin (video of “Midnight City”). M83 was founded in 2001 by the 30 year old French artist Anthony Gonzales who is the only steady member of the band and/but accompanied by lots of guest musicians like Zola Jesus or Brad Laner. The 6th studio album called “Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming” was released in October and turns dreams and nostalgic childhood memories into happy synth-wavey floating harmonies and epic atmospheres. If you can’t make it to the Berlin gig, there’s a chance to see M83 again in February in Hamburg – their only other gig in Germany for some time. Dream on!
