It’s fast approaching summer solstice, and few people celebrate the longest day better than the Swedes. Whether it’s dancing, snacking on pickled herring or simply enjoying the endless daylight in good company, midsummer festival means a Nordic party nonpareil. This year you can celebrate right here in Berlin at the Swedish embassy’s summer festival, held this Saturday (18.06.2022) in the (usually closed) courtyard of the Nordic embassies in Tiergarten. Sweden will be offering Berliners a “varmt välkommen” with cuisine, culture and a showcase of the thing the country does best: design. At the Swedish Marketplace you can discover and buy design goods from some of the country’s most innovative and celebrated makers. Exquisite hallway concepts from Essem, natural textiles from Klippan Yllefabrik and the yoga-mat-meets-rug from Månsing are just some of the 30 stands that are exhibiting at the embassy plaza. Nourishment comes in the form of the “tunnbrödsrulle” wraps from @hotdogwrap and there’s a children’s tent to keep the little ones busy. Most importantly, there’s the obligatory maypole which you are very welcome to dance around – with a self-woven flower wreath in your hair, of course…
