Where do designers and architects visit on Gallery Weekend? To the 2-3 design shows that take place amidst the art hustle and bustle this long weekend. The Vaust Gallery now offers a new space for design. Vaust has been known to those existing in the design bubble for some time. David Kosock and Joern Scheipers are behind the studio. A few years ago, they made a name for themselves with their exposed aggregate concrete furniture, which suddenly appeared in several Berlin restaurants. Since then, they have been designing furniture, interiors and objects — with a knack for materials. Last year, they curated “Culture First”, their first group exhibition of collectible design by young designers (with an excellent selection). The show was a success, and this was not the only reason to create a long-term exhibition space for Collectible Design. “Altered Angles” is the name of the Vaust Gallery’s first show — with names such as Ksenia Oganesyan, LS GOMMA, Nazara Lázaro, Balzer Balzer, they have once again managed to bring together many contemporary design talents in one place. So if you’ve had enough of conceptual art this weekend and would rather look at design concepts instead, head to Schöneberg. The Vaust Gallery is waiting.
