FILM PREMIERE: CHANCE 2000 — FAREWELL TO GERMANY

I vividly remember an evening at Christoph Schlingensief’s Volksbühne during which the legendary director shared the story of his first cinematic experiences in the foyer before the show. The Volksbühne was formerly Schlingensief’s institutional reference point and at the end of this season, the opportunity to experience his work will present itself again. Next Tuesday is the premiere of the film “Chance 2000 – Farewell to Germany”. Dive into Schlingensief’s world with a view of previously unpublished material from himself and Sibylle Dahrendorf. The resurgence of this political project couldn’t have been timed better given the start of the federal elections this autumn. Plus, at the end of July, the large wheel sculpture in front of the Volksbühne is being dismantled. We’re nearing the end of an era — one that Schlingensief was an integral part of.
