SHOWING YOUR AFFECTION THROUGH FLOWERS AT FRIDAS TÖCHTER

SHOWING YOUR AFFECTION THROUGH FLOWERS AT FRIDAS TÖCHTER

This Sunday (12.05.2019) is Mother’s Day in Germany, and you don’t want to give just any old bouquet to your mom: you want to show your affection through flowers. Our advice: visit this lovely spot by Boxhagener Platz, the location of the small florist Fridas Töchter, run by a self-proclaimed “writer with flowers”. Kurt, a trained carpenter and sociologist, creates beautiful floristic stories around a single flower, and stages these narratives both in the shop and at events for customers. And speaking of creating: the arrangements at the entrance, with old wooden boxes and antique suitcases, invite you on a journey into the shop’s enchanting interior. Walking through the doors is an escape from the bustle of Friedrichshain into Kurt’s floral world, where the focus is on local rather than imported flowers. Incidentally, the name is an homage to Mexican artist Frida Kahlo and the strong colors in her work. Let Kurt and his team help you show your affection with a colorful, temporary piece of art. And if your mom doesn’t live nearby, then why not treat yourself? (Text: Rosa Künzler / Photos: Johanna Rademacher-Flesland)
