Slowly but surely, I can feel the evil Berlin cold creeping in. A challenging time for the 4000 homeless living in Berlin. How can we help? Querstadtein is a project that organizes tours where homeless people show around their city all year long. This Saturday sees a special tour named “Kältetour” (tour of cold) and proceeds will go to the Berliner Kältebus, the bus that travels through the city offering help and warmth in cold weather. Although this particular tour is already fully booked, the Berliner Stadtmission informed us that they still need the following: warm blankets, mens clothing in normal sizes such as jackets, shoes, socks, underwear as well as scarves, hats… and hair clippers. They have enough sleeping bags. You can drop your items off during the week, but if you can’t travel to Moabit, simply send a text message saying “kalt” to 81190; 5 Euros will be added to your phone bill and 4,83 Euros will go directly to the Kältebus organization.
