DIY OAT MILK: WITH BLUE FARM’S OAT BASE FOR A HOME-MADE, GLUTEN-FREE OAT DRINK — CREAMINESS INCLUDED
Oat milk: the star of the 2020s. It’s not on the walk of fame yet – its influence is more subtle in our daily lives. It’s part of our coffee, creamy pasta sauce, cereal and all foods in between. Most of us, vegans and non-vegans alike, adore the creaminess of it in a coffee without taking away the flavor of the roasted beans. One thing I’ve found it fails at is being well-replicated at home. Despite it not being that difficult to make, I always find my version to be fairly slimy and constantly separating in a brew. But now there’s Blue Farm’s oat milk powder. It works by adding your required amount of oat base and water (hot or cold!) together. The nifty resealable bags come in multiple sizes (4, 8 or even 20 liters) and two heaped tablespoons create one decent glass. And, unlike many easy at-home alternatives, it isn’t full of additives or sugar. Gone are the days of lugging around heavy cartons after the supermarket run after work, too. If you want to be the one to bring the flavor, take your pick: the matcha powder latte for a freshness moment, or maybe the golden oat latte for a day where spring feels late. The gluten-free crew: this one’s for you too! The oats are regionally sourced and completely gluten-free. What’s more: oats also have a low glycemic-index, meaning the carbs are slow-releasing and give energy over a longer period without spikes, perfect for myself and anyone else who is conscious of their blood sugar. Oh, and check out their recipe recommendations if you really want to say “I did this all myself”. Now, back to my brew…
