JÄÄ-ÄÄR — WARM UP WITH ESTONIAN DELIGHTS

JÄÄ-ÄÄR — WARM UP WITH ESTONIAN DELIGHTS

Jää-äär in Estonian translates to something like “the ice-edge”, but how to properly pronounce the name of this little café still remains a mystery (video). Equipped with a fireplace, it is certain that there is no sign of arctic freeze inside, albeit the name. If you’re still cold justorder a cup of coffee laced with warming Vana Tallinn, the famous Estonian liquor. Owner Kristi Daniel also serves some traditional dishes from the country; try the granny-stylecabbage pie or a Lõhe sandwich, dark bread topped with salmon, fresh cheese and avocado. Exhibitions, readings and concerts will complete your trip to Estonia. Tervisex! (Text: Laura Storfner / Photos: Jalscha Römer)
