LARS WAGNER RECOMMENDS: VON UND ZU TISCH

LARS WAGNER RECOMMENDS: VON UND ZU TISCH

To me, one thing is very clear: Paradise exists. On Auguststraße, to be precise. Here, Katerina and Sebastian Vetter opened their petit specialty food store, Von und zu Tisch, showcasing a potpourri of delicatessen that can hardly be found elsewhere in Berlin. To make it work, the duo is constantly out and about, scouring shops from all corners of the globe in search of new culinary highlights. And, from there, these delectable foods and products reach the Von und zu Tisch shelf. Creamy truffle pecorino from Moliterno, enticing with an aroma that makes me fall head over heels even before the first bite. There are air-dried filets of Iberico pork, that spent a lifetime munching through oak forests. There is also olive oil from small-scale producers in Zakynthos, African dukkah, amazing walnut pesto, and the best grissini the world has ever seen. All this is available at reasonable prices, and in their online shop, too — although it’s definitely more fun discovering on-site. One more tip: The store offers beautiful, lovingly-wrapped gift boxes. I’ll see you there. After all, I’m out of truffle cheese again. (Text: Lars Wagner)
