LAVA — THREE COZY ROOMS FOR A FINE DINING EXPERIENCE

LAVA — THREE COZY ROOMS FOR A FINE DINING EXPERIENCE

There’s a new restaurant right next to the famous Lavanderia Vecchia. It is run by the same team, but here, located in the front building, European dishes with seasonal ingredients are served during lunch time. We had Zander with savoy cabbage in a foamy sauce and a side of dumplings, all very tasty. Their evening menu is more refined. Think fusion food with extraordinary ingredients like skrei cod confit in goose fat with wild rice, algae and pomegranate on the side. You may also try their ham specialties (truffle, boar, jamón serrano, etc.) served with home-baked bread, nut butter and nibbles such as olives. The space, reminiscent of a typical home from the good old days, consists of “the shop“ in the front where there is a large wooden table and “in the kitchen” where you can dine next to their semi-open kitchen. The “saloon”, a chandelier-lit room with art nouveau chairs, is where you will be seated for dinner. Altogether a lovely place that is worth coming back at any time of day, since there are many rooms and dishes to discover.  (Text: Nina Trippel / Photos: Martin Mascheski)
