I’m five years old again, standing on the sidewalk outside the confectionery we used to frequent with my dad, looking at the ruins of what was a perfectly good cone of ice cream a moment ago. Somewhere across time and space, my adult body lies perfectly motionless — while I attend my weekly group hypnosis at Sha-La. A friend introduced me to this class over two years ago, and I’ve been attending ever since, exploring a fresh topic of self-awareness, acceptance, and discovery each week. But Sha-La isn’t just another yoga studio – it’s a hub for holistic well-being. Their offerings go beyond traditional yoga, with classes designed to nourish both mind and body. If you’re looking to get your yoga fix, you’ll find no shortage of classes on the schedule. But if you’re curious about exploring different well-being practices, Sha-La provides a wealth of options, from sound baths to breathwork and somatic healing. Lately, I’ve been hooked on their biweekly “Breathwork Alchemy & Sound” – a short, energizing breathwork session followed by the soothing hum of crystal bowls. The combination is pure magic, leaving me both giddy and recharged. Sha-La has come a long way since its humble beginnings. Now, with 90 professional teachers, they offer a diverse range of classes across two main locations: Prenzlauer Berg and Kreuzberg. The former recently moved into an even more beautiful space on Kastanienallee, making the experience all the more special. With two locations and a broad spectrum of practices, Sha-La has something for everyone. Whether you’re looking to stretch your body, expand your mind, or befriend your shadows, this is a place worth exploring.
