Bauhaus permeates countless elements of this city’s style, and now you can also incorporate it into your own. In early October 2018, Californian luxury eyewear brand Oliver Peoples opened its first boutique in Germany on Ku’Damm. In keeping with the brand’s shop designs throughout the world, the interior takes heed from Californian Mid-Century Modernism, combining it with the movement’s Bauhaus origins — the classic “Bauhaus blue” sets the mood, complemented by rich walnut wood and chrome elements and finished with lamps from the ’20s and ’30s. All this provides a chic backdrop for the range of handcrafted frames for women and men, available as sunglasses or prescription glasses in the iconic styles, the Resort 2019 collection and a duo of frames created together with fashion brand The Row. A pair of limited-edition “Berlin” frames with blue-tinted lenses are exclusively available in this store — get into the mood with a campaign shot by Denise Bodden featuring Stella von Senger in iconic Modernist locations around town, like Mies van der Rohe’s Landhaus Lemke and Corbusierhaus Berlin.
