OUTSIDE THE RING: EXPLORE BEYOND BERLIN’S CENTER

OUTSIDE THE RING: EXPLORE BEYOND BERLIN’S CENTER

A little local patriotism never hurts. But if you haven’t ventured beyond your neighborhood in the past four months, the Ab ins B campaign is just what you need. There’s plenty to discover between the S-Bahn ring and the city limits — even for longtime Kreuzbergers. From 18–27.04.20205 over 200 events at over 100 locations will draw visitors to Berlin’s outskirts with discounted admission and special offers. How about a walk through the Tegeler Fließ? In the city’s north, cycle through forests and moorland along the Berlin Wall Trail and take a break in the charming village of Lübars. As temperatures rise, Berlin’s lakes beckon — some will brave a swim, while others might opt for Easter brunch at the Strandbad Wendenschloss or visit the Liebermann Villa on Wannsee. The villa is worth the trip, not only for its permanent exhibition of the German Impressionist but also for its stunning garden and Café Max, where you can enjoy a terrace view of the lake.

In Oberschöneweide, step back to a time when Berlin was still known as Elektropolis. A guided tour takes visitors through the historic Oberspree cable factory, once Europe’s most advanced. The site was designed by pioneering industrial architect Peter Behrens, whose striking building frequently appears in films and TV series — most recently in Babylon Berlin. Meanwhile, the B.L.O. studios in Lichtenberg will host artist-led workshops on 25. & 26.04.2025 and children aged eight and up can try blueprinting and experimenting with photography. To round out the day, take a stroll through the blooming Britzer Garten, where spring will be welcomed with the traditional Easter bonfire on Easter Saturday.
