MUSEUM FÜR NATURKUNDE: MEET TRISTAN THE T-REX AND OTHERS

I now proudly belong to the group of 500,000 visitors who made it to the Museum für Naturkunde in 2015. If, however, you are not a member of this group, then it’s high time for a visit. It’s inspiring on many levels, for all ages, and not only because of the arrival of “Tristan”. Tristan is a 66 million year old Tyrannosaurus rex; one of the best preserved worldwide, and the only one currently on display in Europe. He will stay amongst an array of similar creatures here in Berlin until 2018, and will be the subject of constant scientific study in the museum. If you are not so interested in the dinosaurs, however, then no worries; there is an impressive total of 30 million objects that belong to the museum’s collection, as well as 120,000 animal sounds. Either way, you’re certain to find something that fascinates you. Whatever that may be, you’ll easily lose track of time here, and it’s one of the best ways to spend a grey day without going into hibernation. (Text: Massimo Hartmann / Photo: Carola Radke)
