There’s a minimalist, almost cavern-esque feel to the bottle shop and tasting room Rocket Wine, with carefully arranged rows of wooden shelving holding up the precious goods. Behind the scenes is a team of three wine lovers: Jeff, Elisa and Daisy. Each has natural wine in their blood, whether they grew up around it, worked with it or fell in love with it later on. Natural wine bars may be bit of a trend right now, but the concept looks set to stay. Rocket Wine’s selection is all free of additives, organic and full of vision. This is their criteria for wine that’s ‘living’, and has a story to tell. When pressed, Jeff couldn’t pick a favorite wine, but suggested that people drop in and talk to the staff: “People need to be curious when it come to natural wine, because there are a whole lot of different textures, aromas and tastes.” The careful selection process allows the team to foster close connections to the winemakers they stock, and to transfer this energy into creating a warm, welcoming shop atmosphere.
