SPEND THE LAST DAYS OF SUMMER ROW BOATING ON STECHLINSEE

You can reach Oberhavel, about a 90 minute car ride away from Berlin, by heading to the very north of Brandenburg along streets lined with fruit trees. In summertime, cornfields and sunflowers greet you before arriving to Stechlinsee, the deepest lake in this area. This is probably the closest thing you’ll find to Hawaii around here. If you’re driving, the lake can be accessed through a town called Neuglobsow. In order to take a dip in the sparkling turquoise water however, you must first go through the lush beech forest. You can easily spend the whole day here doing leisure activities: chill in a rowing boat, make friends with fish and divers, explore the shores, enjoy food and drinks and of course swim. The water is crystal clear, its hue gradating from azure to aquamarine to pure blue. Stechlinsee is by far the most beautiful lake around Berlin! (Text & photos: Milena Kalojanov)
