STAND UP CLUB: PADDLEBOARD RENTAL AND LESSONS ON THE SPREE

STAND UP CLUB: PADDLEBOARD RENTAL AND LESSONS ON THE SPREE

Follow the Spree eastwards, and the surroundings become greener, the soundscape of the urban environment quietens, and the water leads you to paddleboarding Mecca Stand Up Club. Having started in 2015 at Badeschiff, founder Severine Scala wanted an alternative location more immersed in nature. Now, in a small oasis by the Funkhaus, budding boarders can practice their balance and work on their paddle skills. The location is surrounded in lush greenery, with great views of what used to be the largest radio studio in East Germany. After meeting up Spreeside, you can rent boards individually, in groups or as a family (with their four-person tandem board). For those new to the sport, there are beginner lessons or, if you are looking to branch out, you can book city tours, night paddling and yoga (check the website for the latest offerings). After, lounge by the river with a coffee from Milchbar or pizza from Zola – you’ve earned it! (Text: Scarlett Peeters / Photos: Savannah van der Niet)
