We met Stefanie Friese at the Berlin Travel Festival 2019 and instantly fell in love with her minimalist travel books. Since 2017, she’s published four on-the-ground guides to chic hideaways in Cape Town, Reykjavík, Palma de Mallorca, and Berlin under the moniker Travel Colours. As self-proclaimed “city guides for design lovers,” the books offer ideal spots to sleep, eat, drink, shop and explore far from the tourist tracks. Stefanie recounts working with South African photographer and chef Claire Gunn to produce the beautiful Cape Town edition: “she always knew what would happen next in the kitchen and could capture the perfect shot as they did so.” It’s this type of local insight and expertise that is imbued in every guide they produce.
